January 2021 District Governor Bulletin

On behalf of the Daughters of Penelope District 5 Lodge, we wish you all a Happy New Year!!

With the start of a new year, and all rested after the holidays, it’s time to get back into Daughters of Penelope mode. It’s time to collect 2021 Per Capita and remit to DOP HQ’s as you collect it. Please do not wait until the end of the year to remit.

The DOP Grand Lodge has officially launched the National Project Series of Weekly Webinars. The previous two, Penelope House and Limbitless were outstanding!!! Please consider participating in the upcoming webinars. In order to participate on Zoom, you must pre-register. Information for registering is sent out weekly from DOP HQ’s. As a friendly reminder to chapter members, chapter presidents and/or secretaries should forward the information to chapter members.

Feb 18: Webinar on the Penelopean Day Care Center in Athens, Greece, at Noon

Feb 25: Webinar on Meals on Wheels, a DOP Charitable Foundation, Inc. Project - at 11am

Annual New Year’s E-Package:

DOP HQ’s has emailed out their Annual New Year’s E-Package to Chapters, there is a plethora of information in that package. You may also find the information on the DOP National Website under the Forms tab and the sub tab Forms and More.

National and District Obligations:

Most be postmarked by March 31, 2021 forms may be found on the National and District Websites.

Scholarships:

National scholarship applications were included in the Annual New Year’s E-Package and may also be found on the DOP and DOP Foundation websites.

District 5 Scholarship Applications have been emailed by Valarie Vittas, Scholarship Chairman, applications are also available on the DOP District 5 Website under the Foundation tab.

New DOP Members:

A hearty welcome to our new members and congratulations to the chapters who even during COVID have virtually initiated new members into our beloved organization. Just as a friendly reminder, please do not remit new member applications and payment until the neophyte as be initiated into the Daughters of Penelope and all sections of the application must be completed and signed.

Festival of Tables:

The Festival of Tables Event has been postponed again. A new date for this event will not be chosen until it is possible for the event to be held without fear of contracting COVID and membership is comfortable attending the event.
